Dr Federico Bianchini, Senior Engineer at the Department of Biosciences at the University of Oslo (UiO) and long-time member of ELIXIR Norway, has been appointed as interim co-lead of the ELIXIR Research Data Management (RDM) Community for 2026.
The ELIXIR RDM Community supports topics including Data Management Plans (DMPs), data brokering, ontologies, metadata standards, AI-readiness, RDM policies, and other emerging area. Its scope will continue to evolve in response to technological advances and stakeholder needs.
With over 250 registered members, the Community is active, engaged, and professionally supportive, benefitting both individual members and their institutions. Community members contribute to key RDM ecosystem resources, including the RDMkit, FAIR Cookbook, Data Stewardship Wizard (DSW), TeSS, and the Data Stewardship Handbook. These resources provide practical guidance and best practices, and are widely used by RDM professionals in the life sciences.
Bianchini, who is already a member of the editorial board of RDMkit, an annotator on TeSS, a power user of DSW, and a liaison to FAIRsharing via the Community Champions Programme, sees this role as a natural continuation of his line of work and as a formal recognition of the efforts of ELIXIR Norway over the years on Research Data Management and FAIR.
