Collaborative Life Science Hub Linking Five Organisations to ELIXIR Europe

Coordinated from the University of Bergen, ELIXIR Norway connects the University of Oslo, UiT Tromsø, NTNU, and NMBU into a national network — part of ELIXIR Europe’s infrastructure for life science data.

Organisation

ELIXIR Norway is organised across five partner universities, with dedicated leadership, coordination, and advisory committees guiding our national infrastructure.

International Collaboration

ELIXIR is a European intergovernmental organisation that helps researchers harness life science data — spanning genomics, proteomics, and beyond. The network operates through a “Hub and Nodes” model across 25 member countries:

  • ELIXIR Hub: Central coordination based at the Wellcome Genome Campus near Cambridge, UK.
  • ELIXIR Nodes: Each member country runs a Node — a national network of organisations. ELIXIR Norway is Norway’s Node, connecting local expertise to international partners.

ELIXIR Norway coordinates with Norwegian representatives to the Global Biodata Coalition — a forum that brings together research funders and data resource managers to develop shared strategies and funding models for sustaining global biodata infrastructure.
